Happy Thursday crafty people! I hope you are having a great week. It’s a gorgeous sunny day here in Scotland and we have a four day weekend to look forward to, what more could we ask for?
Today I’m sharing a one layer card, which is not something I do very often…. like almost never! I used a record stamp from an old magazine freebie set and I used memento black ink with clear embossing powder to give it a glossy look like a record. Then I used some washi tape to create a wide stripe. I had to make my masking wider using two lengths of tape as my first attempt I went over the edge and made a mess!
Then I used my lovely new make up brushes to blend some distress oxide inks over this panel (from the bottom I used blueprint sketch, salty ocean, cracked pistachio and twisted citron). I added a few splashes of water to lift the colour and then removed the tape. I finished off by colouring the centres of the records with the matching colours before stamping “Happy birthday”.
I hope that you like my simple one layer card. I think I don’t tend to make these as I’m quite messy and I end up wasting card blanks (as I did in this case!) but maybe I should work on being a little more precise and try out a few more one layer designs.
Thanks so much for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, I hope you will say hi in the comments. Have a fab evening whatever you are up to.

Fab card, the little record stamp is just so sweet and on trend with vinyl records coming back into fashion.

This is a great card! I’d be willing to bet you can come up with a fun way to use those card blanks you “messed up”. It’s just another creative opportunity.

Thanks Golda, I was just thinking that, I’m sure I can salvage something and make it into something else! x

I’m loving that little record stamp! We found a bunch of old 45 records at my mother-in-law’s house a few months ago and it was so neat looking through them. Some Elvis, too!!

How fab! I’ve got a few of my Dad’s old records including a couple from his time in South Africa in the 60s. My favourite is the gum boot dance, my saffa hubby was very impressed! x

Thanks Dawn, it was good to challenge myself but I think my preference will always be to layer it up! x

You definitely could, especially if you are less messy than me! 😉

Your card is amazing! I love the colors and how the records are “escaping” the colored strip. So cool and unique. Thank you so much for joining us at The Male Room Challenge.
