Smash that paper pad 2020

Smash that paper pad – 4

Hi crafty people! I hope you are all well and finding plenty to keep busy in these worrying times.  We remain on lock down here in Scotland but there are discussions about some gradual changes once our numbers get low enough to show we are making progress.  We are coping with daily life and I think the cats are absolutely loving having my husband and I at home so much!

I’m sharing a project I made today as part of my Smash that paper pad project (check out this post ) for info.  This time I made a mini album which was inspired by this blog post.  I used the basic template to make this little project and used the paper pad for various embellishments and decorations.  Here is the front when it is all folded up.

Then when it’s opened up……

and once the bottom flap is opened too….

Another little pocket added with a tag inside…..

I added a belly band and an altered paper clip….

And a selection of the elements inside the pockets….

I have uploaded a video on the Jenny Ginger Ninja Crafts Youtube channel.  I’m very new to making videos so I would love it if you had a look and let me know what you think!

Thanks so much for visiting my blog, I am so grateful to everyone who takes the time to read and leave a like and a comment.  Take care and keep crafting.

Smash that paper pad – 3

For an explanation of this project see this blog post from the 11th of April, thanks again to Deb Houck’s Crafty Cottage for the inspiration!

This time I decided to make some mini cards and matching envelopes.  I used the We R Memorykeepers envelope punch board to make some cute mini envelopes to start.

I also cut some mini hearts to decorate and a label for the front to write on.

I then folded some cards to fit the envelope from kraft or cream card stock.  The first two I decorated with simple pieces of the patterned paper and a sentiment.  I also added a die cut mini doily and some adhesive pearls.  The handmade hugs stamp is from a Marianne Designs set and the other is from a Hunkydory set I believe.

This next batch I cut some coffee mugs from the paper and added some scraps of paper and flat backed pearls.  The sentiment comes from a Clearly Besotted set.

My plan is to include these with happy mail.  I’ve still got a few more coffee cups cut out and a few more pages from the pad so I will be back soon with some more projects until I have smashed the pad!

Thanks so much for visiting the blog, I hope you will come again soon!

Smash that paper pad – 2

For an explanation of this project see this blog post from the 11th of April, thanks again to Deb Houck’s Crafty Cottage for the inspiration!

Today my project is inspired by the Stick it Down Challenge which has a card sketch for April.  I thought this would be a great use of the coordinating patterned papers.  I cute panels measuring 9 x 3.5 cm and some ivory card panels measuring 9.5 x 4 cm as mats for the patterned panels.  I added these to some kraft card bases.

I also used two magazine gifts from Bright Rosa by Paula Pascual (the stitched edge rectangle from the Geo Panel Die Set from Die Cutting Essentials issue 62 and the Fern Die from Issue 202 of Simply Cards and Papercraft).

I cut the rectangle from ivory card and inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink.

Then I cut two full size ferns and one little one from two green card.  I glued these onto the panel.

The final step was to add the sentiment which is from the Group Hug stamp set by Marianne Designs.  I cut the sentiment out and added some sticky pads to give it dimension.

I liked it so much I made another four!

I would also like to enter the Crafty Hazelnuts Patterned Paper Challenge.

Many thanks for visiting my blog, I’d love it if you left me a like or said hi in the comments.  I hope you will come again soon!

Smash that paper pad – 1

Hi crafty people, I hope you are all safe and well and coping in these scary times.  Crafting continues to be a good distraction for me and I’ve been watching people crafting on youtube while I am busy making.  I came across a number of people using up some of their stash by focusing on a smaller paper pad (anything smaller than a 12 x 12 inch pad) started by Deb Houck’s Crafty Cottage so I thought I would have a go!  I flipped through my 6 x 6 pads and picked the Tulip pad from K and Company, I’ve had it for years and years (10 plus….. maybe nearer 20 years).  For my first project I picked out this patchwork die which I think I bought on ebay.  I had a couple of the frames cut from red cardstock in my box of die cuts (something else I would like to use up!) so I started with those and cut the die from a few pages of the pad.

Here are the first two cards I made from the sheets in the pad, just stuck to the front of a 5 x 5 card blank card.

and then I used the frames from patterned papers to make these three versions (I cheated slightly by adding in the checked paper from my scrap stash.  It’s also K and Company and matched in well so I’ve added it to my pile to use up in this project.

I hope you like these cards and I’ll be back soon to share some more projects using this pad.

How are you all doing?  We are keeping safe and well on lockdown, although it’s hard with no idea how long this will continue for and the numbers in the UK get scarier every day.  Our 24 hour deaths in the UK yesterday exceeded the highest for Italy and the media keeps reporting shortages in PPE for hospital staff.  I am trying to get a once a day update and then not look at the news to help keep sane during these awful times.  In the mean time I will keep crafting and keep smiling.
