Wishing you a speedy recovery

Hi everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend and that your Monday is going well.  Today I’m back on the card challenge train and I’m sharing my card for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, FMS 341 ( http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/ )

I went with a get well soon theme and this is my card for the challenge…..

I used stamps from two Lawn Fawn sets (Get Well Soon and On the Mend) and coloured the images with alcohol pens.

I embossed a white card background and then used a chevron embossing folder to make an embossed resist background with distress inks (cracked pistachio, squeezed lemondae and twisted citron).  Then I die cut two different size of circles and punched some smaller circles.

What do you think?  I really liked chevron paper I made and love the cute lawn fawn images.  Happy Monday everyone!

Fly me to the moon!

Hi everyone, can’t believe it’s been 10 days since I last posted, I’m sure time is speeding up at the moment…. maybe I’m just getting old!  Anyway I’m back with another card for a challenge.  This time it’s the Male Room Challenge blog.( https://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2018/06/challenge-87-little-boys-dt-call.html )

The theme for challenge 87 is “little boys” and I went with a space theme using die cuts and a pixie powder night sky for this easel card.

I bought my first pixie powders earlier this year and I’ve loved playing with them and seeing the different effects.  This was the first time I tried them on dark card and I was really pleased with the night sky I created.

Pixie powders in Midnight blue, silver dream and aubergine dream.

I scattered some of the three colours onto navy card stock and then sprayed with water, and used a paint brush to add water to any larger clumps of powder to make sure they had all reacted.

After I’ve sprayed water over the pixie powders on the dark paper, the real sheen comes once it’s dried.

I then added a dovecraft die cut rocket and some tiny silver stars and stamped a happy birthday sentiment.

To keep the card sitting up I raised the circle panel on the card base with some sticky pads and added an age for the birthday boy.

I hope you like my card and I’d love it if you left me a comment!

Crafty swaps

Butterfly pocket letter

Today I thought I would share a pocket letter I made a few weeks ago for a crafty swap via a Facebook group.  I used a combination of printed papers as well as some I decorated myself using heat embossed stamps, distress inks, stencils and inked embossing folders.  I decorated the pockets with some butterfly die cuts, sentiments and coloured stamped butterflies.

And on the reverse some goodies for my swap partner.  This time I included some paper ephemera, die cuts, stickers, papers, embellishments, washi samples and a mini notebook I made as well as a short letter.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my pocket letter and I’d love to hear about your crafty swaps.  Thanks for stopping by.

Why fit in when you were born to stand out?

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you have had a great day, we have had a stormy afternoon which is perfect crafting weather although the cats were all a bit spooked by the rumbling thunder.

I’m back with another card challenge (I did warn you I’ve been a bit addicted!) and this time it’s the Freshly Made Sketches challenge 339.  I’ve also decided to try the 30 day colouring challenge over on instagram organised by @Kathyrac starting today.  So this card is killing 2 birds with one stone (don’t worry, no flamingos were harmed in the making of this card!)

I love the sketch this week and had fun playing with different papers etc.

FMS Final 339-001

I eventually decided on a flamingo theme and used a mixture of two stamp sets.  The sentiment came from a Crafter’s Companion set that was a gift with Crafter’s Inspiration magazine and the rest was a For the Love of Stamps by Hunkydory tropical set.

I stamped the small flamingos and heat embossed them in pink.  The other corner I used the hibiscus flowers as a resist and then used distress oxide inks in seedless preserves and picked raspberry with a light spritz of water to give a light spotty effect.

Finally I coloured and fussy cut a flamingo for the top of the card and stamped the sentiment directly onto the card.

I hope you like it and manage some crafty time over the weekend.  Are you participating in any card challenges or the 30 day marker challenge?
