Dare you to not make a card!

Happy Friday everyone, this week has been so fast and I’ve not had a chance to check in with the blog at all! But Friday brings a new Daring Cardmaker Challenge and the perfect excuse to hop on and let you know what our challenge is this week!

So share your handmade bags or boxes for Christmas gifts. I have been making some 2020 cross stitch Christmas decorations (still top secret but will share after the big day!) so I have a few 10 cm embroidery hoop decorations. I decided to make little flat boxes from craft card and decorated with some cute Clearly Besotted stamps (the set is a 2020 release and is called Baa Humbug)

Something simple but hopefully will make someone smile and being flat is very postable in case I don’t manage to see people in person.

Can’t wait to see your makes!

All dressed up!

Hi crafty people! Happy Friday and welcome to a new Daring Cardmakers challenge and it’s another festive prompt this week!

This week’s prompt is the perfect excuse to pull out my Christmas jumper die set from Sweet Dixie which I’ve had for a few years now. I decided to make some bunting for my craft room instead of my usual card this week. I cut a load of the jumpers from patterned paper which I was recently gifted. I sandwiched the ribbon inbetween 2 layers of the jumpers and added some of the decoration die cuts which come in the die set. This is a look at the bunting hanging on my shelves.

And a couple of closer looks at the jumpers…

I can’t wait to see your all dressed up makes this week.

Keep safe and keep crafting!

SAL Sunday 2020 – 15

Happy Sunday crafty people and welcome to the latest SAL post. I’ve been doing quite a bit of stitching this last 3 weeks but most of it has been on some Christmas gifts which are top secret at the moment! All will be revealed after the big day but I’ve got some fun designs that I purchased from Etsy and my hubby requested one for a friend which is very funny and also from a fellow Etsy seller. I did do a little stitching on my sunflowers too just to keep making some progress. Last time I shared this photo of my stitching….

Three weeks later and I’ve got a little bit done…..

I also treated myself to a little needle minder from Etsy, I absolutely love it, it’s from the Dinky Trinket Co shop and everytime I pick up my cross stitch it makes me smile!

This SAL is organised by the lovely Avis. who keeps us all on track (it’s always a surprise to me when the email comes in and I think it cannot be 3 weeks already!!)

I’m looking forward to catching up with all the other blogs in this SAL group.  Please give them a visit too, I’ve linked them here so you can easily find them.

Gorgeous Gifts

Happy Friday crafty people, and welcome to another challenge from the Daring Cardmakers Blog. This week we have an ‘Anything Crafty’ Themed Challenge for you.

Gorgeous Gifts

It simply means that we’d love to see anything on a theme of Gifts this week.
So it could be a card featuring parcels all wrapped up, a gift you’ve made for a friend, or how about a card and gift combined? This could be a bookmark, gift card or a little chocolatey treat as an added extra on your card.

When we were doing our weekly shopping last weekend I picked up a couple of gingerbread falvoured chocolate bars (hopefully delicious but I haven’t sampled yet!) so I thought I would wrap one as my gift for this week’s challenge. I started by wrapping with plain brown paper. Then I added a sparkly red pompom with a touch of glue, eyes and drew on a mouth. The antlers were cut from dark brown centura pearl and it is finished off with a ribbon around his neck and a little Merry Christmas panel. I hope you like him!

I’m looking forward to seeing your gift themed projects this week.

Buttoned Beauties

Happy Monday everyone, I hope you have a good week ahead. The sun is shining this morning in my little corner of Scotland which is something to appreciate at this time of year!

I wanted to hop on today to share some good news with you all. I’m excited to announce that I’ve joined the design team for Julia McNeill Crafts. She has a fabulous Etsy shop and you might have seen her recently on Hochanda if you are here in the UK.

Today is my first project shareand I used the cute Beckie Buttons alongside some elements from the accessories and a sentiment from the recently released Buttoned Beauties collection . I coloured Beckie Buttons using Triblend markers from Spectrum Noir and added some details with Polychromos pencils and white gel pen. I then fussy cut these elements out.

For the background I picked some script patterned paper from my stash. I then created some inky paper using Brusho crystal Colour on bubble wrap t make a spotty print. Once it was dry I used a stencil to add another layer of pattern. I ripped a panel and added to the card front.

The final step was to add the sentiment. I cut the panel and added some distress oxide inks, I edged it with some vintage photo ink and layered up on Kraft card and a piece of the inky paper.

Julia’s designs are so unique, I love the beautiful girls and she also has some beautifully quirky birds and animals. If you like the look of her work you should check out the JMC’s Crazy Craft Hive facebook group. There are lots of projects for inspiration and the odd free digi stamp too!

Thanks so much to everyone who has left a comment on my blog, I need to make some time to sit down with a cuppa and respond!

Daring Cardmakers Challenge – November Elemental Challenge

Hi crafty people, how on earth is it Friday already?! Thanks so much if you joined in with last week’s challenge. It was fun seeing how people used the fireworks theme.

I hope you are all doing ok, especially if you are now in a lockdown again. In Scotland, we are continuing to live with restrictions but so far we are not in a lockdown which I am very grateful for. However if the numbers show we need to break an upward cycle and have a period of lockdown again then we will cope, this won’t last forever.

Anyway in the meantime we have another Daring Cardmakers Challenge and as it’s the first Friday of the month we have a photo inspiration challenge. Take (at least) 3 elements from this photograph and use them to create a card.

What a gorgeous scene! I decided to use the turquoise from the Christmas baubles, the JOY from the pillow and the flourish pattern from the rug. I started with some patterned paper from the Vintage Turquoise Pretty Papers Pad from Craftbox UK.

I used the Christina Collection alphabet dies to cut the J and Y and then instead of the O I used a Tattered Lace snowflake die from my stash. I layered it all up with some silver card, centura pearl in blue and white glitter card. To finish it off I added some gems to the snow flake and the card base.

I hope you will join us this week. It’s a great excuse to make some Christmas cards and a lovely distraction from the scary stuff happening out there in the world.

Thanks so much for everyone who leaves a comment, it means a lot to me.
