Say it loud…. I dare you!

Happy Friday! How has your week been going? I feel like this week has flown past and my todo list is still quite long however nothing too urgent! It’s time for a new Daring Cardmaker’s Challenge and this week the lovely Nat has challenged us to Say it Loud!

So we have been challenged to make the sentiment the focus of our card. I used a die set from Bright Rosa and cut the words from Black Centura Pearl card stock. To create the card base I used a square of glossy photo paper with cosmic shimmer powders on it. I made a video of this technique in case you would like to see what I did.

So I cut a square of this paper and stuck it onto the card base.

I was recently gifted some vellum from a fellow crafty youtuber and I cut a piece of vellum which had butterflies printed on it in a square larger than the photo paper. I mounted the words on some more of the photo paper and arranged those on top on the vellum with a couple of circle die cuts. I then applied glue to the areas under the word panels and circles and stuck it onto the card base.

I hope that you like my card and that you will join us for the challenge.

Aud Sentiments 271 – Animals

Hi crafty friends, can you believe it’s Thursday already? I’m not sure where this week is disappearing too but time is flying past! Today we have a new challenge over at the Aud Sentiments Challenge and this time it’s a favourite theme of mine … animals!

We are very luck to be sponsored by the fabulous Dr Digi’s House of Stamps. If you haven’t checked their shop out you are missing a treat. I love their quirky characters best and I’ve used many on blog posts in the past. This time they very kindly gifted me Morag the Moo to use for today’s card.

I coloured Morag with coloured pencils and fussy cut her out. I found some green inky paper for her to stand on and layered it up with some bright green card. The card base has some bright tartan paper (well she is a Highland coo, she needs some tartan!). The sentiment is from a Hunkydory stamp set and I heat embossed it on a strip of blue vellum, I added some circles of inky card to give me some places to hide the glue sticking it down. I hope you like my card and Morag makes you smile!

Thanks as ever for checking out the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, have a fab day

SAL Sunday 2021 – 4

Hi crafty friends, I hope you are doing well. It’s a gorgeous sunny day in Scotland and spring has most definitely sprung. I’ve been sorting out the garden and it’s lovely to be outside in mild weather. I hope you are all doing well. I’m excited to share a finish with you today as well as show my next project which is well under way. So this is where I was 3 week ago…..

I was so close so it didn’t take much to finish off the project (excuse the blue light!)….

I had already decided to start on a new Barbara Ana design called Dream Girl from Creative Poppy. It’s a SAL and I think there are 4 parts out. I used the threads they recommended but changed to a cloud printed aida instead of the teal blue even weave which I couldn’t find available to me in lockdown! Here is where I am…

I’m excited to see what else will be included in the design! I’ll share more in another 3 weeks.

This SAL is organised by the lovely Avis. and it’s a bit different than many SALs because we are all working on our own projects at our own pace. It’s really helpful to me as a way of pushing me forward to complete projects (I just need to actually get them fully finished into frames etc but one step at a time!) Please visit the other SAL members blogs, they are such a talented group who are working on really beautiful projects. I’ve linked them here so you can easily find them.

Daring Cardmakers Challenge – Spring Thoughts

Happy Friday crafty friends, how are you all doing? It’s been a beautiful sunny week here and it definitely feels like Spring is in the air so this week the Daring Cardmaker’s Challenge has the perfect theme….. Spring Thoughts!

I also got my copy of the new Simply Cards and Papercrafts magazine this week and it has a beautiful cherry blossom stamp and die set. I stamped and die cut some of the cherry blossom images and then coloured with distress oxide inks in picked raspberry and worn lipstick. I had a piece of card which had mopped up some left over ink. It was pretty pale so I topped it up with some additional cracked pistachio and salty ocean by spraying some ink smooshed onto my glass mat and pressing the paper onto the pools of ink. Once this was dry I added it to the card base and arranged the cherry blossoms onto the panel and in one of the corners. I finished it off with some nuvo drops and a thank you stamp.

I hope you are getting some milder weather too, and that you will come and join in with our challenge this week.

Daring Cardmakers Challenge – Plant a Flower Day

Happy Friday crafty friends. I hope you’ve had a good week and found a little time for being creative.  It’s my turn to host the Daring Cardmakers challenge this week so I hope you will hop on over and share your cards.  Today is “Plant a Flower Day” so to honour this I would love to see projects showing your favourite flowers.  I find it difficult to pick just one but as spring is just around the corner in Scotland we have lots of snowdrops popping up and they are definitely one of my favourites.

I used a snowdrop cutting die from Craft Emotions. For the leaves I used some card which I had used Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders in Olive Green on. The flowers are cut from a textured white card. I added them to a panel of patterned paper from my stash, inked around the edge with distress oxide in cracked pistachio and lucky clover. I took a strip of the pixie powder background and added some lace behind it. The stamp is from a Hunkydory set and the finishing touches were some pearl nuvo drops.

I hope you like my spring floral card. The team have created some beautiful cards which , can’t wait to see what you come up with!

Aud Sentiments Challenge #270

Hi crafty friends, how are you doing this week? It’s been a wild windy week here so one minute the sun is shining and the next it is bucketing rain, typical Scottish weather really! It’s time for a new challenge over at the Aud Sentiments blog. This week week we are looking for the sentiment to be on the inside of the card for a change!

I decided to make a card with a window to get a sneak peak of the sentiment. I recently bought a Floral Scribble Circle frame die from Tonic Studios and I thought this would work nicely as it comes with dies to cut the outside and inside edges too.

I cut the inside edge into the card base (with some patterned paper already in place) and then added the frame cut in a green mirror card. I added a few flowers and some nuvo drops to the front. Once the nuvo drops had dried I opened up the card and added the same patterned paper. I used the outside edge die to cut a panel for inside the card and lined up the stamp so it would appear through the window. I added a couple of flowers and some nuvo drops to finish it off.

Here is the front of the card with the sentiment peeking through….

The inside view…

I hope you will share you projects over at the Aud Sentiments Challenge blog and hop on over to see the beautiful projects made by the other design team members.
