Alphabet Challege – L for lemons or limes

Happy Friday crafty people!  How has your week been? I hope you found some time for crafting.  If you are looking for something crafty to be inspired by we have a new Alphabet Challenge launching this morning.  The prompt is L for lemons or limes, perfect for the summer.

I pulled out some papers that had come with a Tonic Studios magazine which were perfect for this challenge.  I fussy cut out the panel for the front and arranged some different panels of the lemon print papers with some lime green and white card stock.  I finished it off with a couple of adhesive gems and die cut lemon slices.

I hope you like my lemon card and that you will join us for the challenge, I love seeing how people interpret the prompts in so many different ways.  Thank you for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, I hope to see you again soon.

Q for Quarters

Hi crafty people!  How are you today? We went into Edinburgh last night to watch the fireworks that mark the end of the festival.  We headed into Inverleith Park with a blanket and cosy jumpers and had a lovely view of the castle.  I tried to take some pics of the fireworks but they were all rubbish but this was our view with the castle all lit up before it got fully dark.

Now that the festival is finished Christmas will be here in no time (eek sorry, but it always feels that way!) so today’s card is for the ABC Christmas Challenge – PQR.  Specifically it’s for the Q for quarters prompts.  I used some papers from a Craftwork Cards Christmas USB, plus some silver glitter paper and navy blue card.  The Let it Snow circle was from a Trimcraft set I believe.

Penguin Parade!

Happy Monday crafty people!  How was your weekend?  It was a beautiful sunny weekend in my little corner of Scotland and I thoroughly enjoyed the return of summer!  We had a fun trip into town on Saturday night for some comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe and I had time to enjoy the garden and got a good crop for dinners this week!  I thought I would share a few non crafty pics before I get into my card for today!

Today’s card was inspired by the ABC Christmas Challenge P for Penguin! I pulled out the Penguin Parade stamp from Woodware and stamped it with memento black ink (although it’s a bit grey now!).  I coloured the details with alcohol inks and then fussy cut around the top of the images.  The sentiment came from a Lawn Fawn set called Here we go a waddling!   I used some snowy paper for the background and added some red and green gems for some bling!

Over the hill!

Happy Friday crafty people!  How’s your week been?  I’ve had a good week, nothing too exciting but managed to fit in lots of crafting so that is always a good sign and it’s nearly the weekend!  My husband is golfing three days in a row but we’ve also got plans for a trip into Edinburgh for an evening at the fringe to see a couple of shows and have some food.  We usually go to see lots of things in Edinburgh festival and fringe but this year we’re just squeezing in one evening before it all finishes up with the fireworks on Monday night.  Hopefully we will head into town to see the fireworks too as that’s always a good show.  We’re also going to a braai on Sunday for South Africans in Scotland (and their families!).  I hope you’ve got some lovely things planned over the weekend.

Anyway back to the crafting!  Today I’m sharing a card for the Sisterhood of snarky stampers challenge R for RIP!

edna rip

I love their prompts as they are always unique and make me smile.  I had recently got this digi (Stella Birthday Reaper)  from Bugaboo stamps and I thought it was very fitting!

I coloured Stella in with pencils and trimmed the panel down before inking around the edges with a makeup sponge and some black ink.

20190821_153020

I’m trying to use up some of my large pile of patterned papers so I picked a couple and some purple card to make up some panels.  The finishing touch is some purple gems to add a little bling for Stella!  I hope she makes you smile!

Aud Sentiments Challenge #234

Hi crafty people! I hope you are having a great week.  Today we have a new challenge starting at Aud Sentiments Challenge and this time the theme is to make a masculine card (of course including a sentiment!).

Logo_Trans_Back

The new challenge is sponsored by Dr Digi’s House of Stamps  and the design team were all lucky to be gifted a digital stamp to use for our projects.  I chose Metal Mick for my card.

I started by making a background using a couple of musical stamps and then I inked aroundthe edges with black ink.

20190820_124518 (2)

I printed out Mick and coloured him in using coloured pencils and added some pencil shading for the floor and wall.  I cut out the panel and inked around the edges before matting and layering with some red and black card.  The sentiments also came from the same musical stamp set.  The finishing touch was to add some black nuvo drops.

Metal Mick Dr Digi

I hope that you like Metal Mick too, he makes me smile! I hope you will hop over to the challenge and see all the other design team member’s projects.  The challenge runs for a couple of weeks so you can enter until the 2nd of September.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon!

Happy hump day crafty people!  I hope you are having a great week!  Today I am back with my entry for the Joy of Sets Tic Tac Toe Challenge #8

AUGUSTGRID

I chose the first column (yellow, square and plaid).

I decided to make an easel card and I used some digital papers for the tartan and the sunflower print.  The sunflower is a moonstone die from a Hunkydory set.  This is a view of the closed card…..

Ahoy there!

Helloooooo!  It’s been a while since I was active on here and I’ve missed it.  I need to go and catch up on comments and see what blog posts I’ve missed so apologies if there is a flurry of commenting in the next wee while!  Life has been a bit hectic recently but I’m so pleased to be back on the blog.  I thought I would start back with a couple of challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketch #517

TMS #517

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #476

cic476

I decided to use some of my (extensive!) patterned papers and these were from a pad I got in Lidl (I think) at least a year ago!  For glitter I added some blue glitter paper but also fussy cut out some starfish and a shell from the paper which had a glittery finish.

20190820_143722 (2)

This was a nice quick card to make and I thought it was perfect for the summer.  I hope you have all been doing really well?  We have been keeping busy!  Mr Darcy is finally back to his usual healthy self after nearly a month of recovering from his bladder stones.  I’ve had lots of orders to make up and last weekend I had a stall at a local dogs event which was lots of fun.  I was super busy before making lots of doggy designs in the run up and I’ll be adding them to my Etsy shop over the next week or so.

Thank you so much for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog.  I ‘ll be back again very soon.

So three weeks ago I was just waiting for one thread to arrive so I could complete this…

Stretching your craft stash – using embossing folders as a stamp

Hi crafty people! I hope you are doing well. I’ve been thinking about ways to get the most out of my crafty stash without always having to buy new things.  I thought a series on ways of stretching our stash to use items in different ways would challenge me to think outside the box and I’d love to hear what other people do too!  For this first post I decided to try using my embossing folders as stamps.

I chose this feather embossing folder which was a magazine gift in the past.  I used some distress oxides to ink the folder in a sort of ombre effect.  I tried just pressing the folder onto the card by hand and also running it through my bigshot machine to emboss as well as stamp the colours.

20190729_112023

This first card is the version that was run through the bigshot.  I cut a square panel and added some salty ocean distress oxide ink around the edges.  I added a navy layer behind and a strip of vellum.  I added the die cut dream catcher and feathers and drew in the lines for the strings.  To make the dream catcher fit in I coloured it with the blue print sketch oxide ink.

20190729_112100

Here is a closer look at the finished card….

20190729_112128

The second version I used the panel which was stamped without being embossed.  For this version I added some nuvo crystal drops to look like little beads on the dream catcher.

Here’s a closer look…..

I hope you liked my cards and that you will share your stash stretching top tips!  I can’t promise it will curb my shopping but it might!
