October Elemental Daring Cardmakers Challenge

It’s the first Friday in a new month so we have another elemental challenge over at the Daring Cardmakers Blog. This is our image for October and as usual you are asked to use at least three elements from this picture.

This picture makes me feel all cosy! I do love autumn so this week is right up my street! I decided to use the cosy jumpers and the autumnal colours from the leaves to start. I pulled out this knitted effect embossing folder and some distress oxide and distress ink. Once I had blended the inks on white card, I embossed it and cut to size for my card. I layered it up on some dark brown centura pearl card.

I then took the book as inspiration and tore a piece of old book page. To distract a bit from the text and make it fit with the overall card, I blended some rusted hinge distress oxide around the edge and then a little vintage photo just on the very edges.

I used some bakers twine instead of string in the picture to wrap around the book page panel, fixing with some tape on the back. The final layer is a die cut leaf from a scrap of inky paper in my stash. I blended some vintage photo around the edge and raised it up with some 3d sticky pads. The finishing touches were a sentiment stamped in the corner and a few rose gold sequins.

Will you join us for a cosy autumnal card this week. I hope to see you over at the Daring Cardmakers Blog!

  1. I know it is an optical illusion but I cannot get my head round the leaf being raised up lol. To me it looks like the book page and string have been cut with a leaf die and I am looking through the space to the mottled paper below. xxx

  2. What a fun challenge! You did such a great job pulling from that picture for your final design. Loved how it turned out!
