Cardmaking

Why fit in when you were born to stand out?

Happy Friday everyone!  I hope you have had a great day, we have had a stormy afternoon which is perfect crafting weather although the cats were all a bit spooked by the rumbling thunder.

I’m back with another card challenge (I did warn you I’ve been a bit addicted!) and this time it’s the Freshly Made Sketches challenge 339.  I’ve also decided to try the 30 day colouring challenge over on instagram organised by @Kathyrac starting today.  So this card is killing 2 birds with one stone (don’t worry, no flamingos were harmed in the making of this card!)

I love the sketch this week and had fun playing with different papers etc.

I eventually decided on a flamingo theme and used a mixture of two stamp sets.  The sentiment came from a Crafter’s Companion set that was a gift with Crafter’s Inspiration magazine and the rest was a For the Love of Stamps by Hunkydory tropical set.

I stamped the small flamingos and heat embossed them in pink.  The other corner I used the hibiscus flowers as a resist and then used distress oxide inks in seedless preserves and picked raspberry with a light spritz of water to give a light spotty effect.

Finally I coloured and fussy cut a flamingo for the top of the card and stamped the sentiment directly onto the card.

I hope you like it and manage some crafty time over the weekend.  Are you participating in any card challenges or the 30 day marker challenge?

Hi there crafty people, I hope you’ve all had a great week.  I thought I would share another project from a wee while ago and this time it’s a pocket letter made for a swap through a facebook group.  This was the first pocket letter I had made for a couple of years and it got me back into crafty swaps and happy mail.  I hope that you like it!

Have a great weekend, I hope it brings some time for crafting

Cardmaking

Bring me sunshine!

I felt inspired to make this card as I’ve been planting out my little sunflower plants recently and I can’t wait to see them grow.  Last year we had a bumper crop of giant sunflowers (see pics below for photographic evidence!) and I’m hoping this year’s thrive despite the chilly spring weather!

This card was inspired by the new Freshly Made Sketches card challenge http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.co.uk/

FMS Final 336-001

I used a craft card base for the card and the stamp was a free gift with a Papercraft Essentials magazine last year (I think!).  The lovely checked yellow paper in the background arrived in the post today along with some pretty washi tapes.  They were a gift from Papercraft Essentials for submitting a card that they published a few months ago.  I hope you like it and the sunflower brings a smile to your face today.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Have a Quacking Time!

I’ve been meaning to sit down and work on some blog posts for too long and I’ve been building up a list of potential topics to write about.  I’m a top class procrastinator but today is the day I’m actually doing it!

As spring has finally sprung in Scotland I thought I would share a cute spring time card I made recently using the Fun on the Farm stamp set from For the love of stamps by Hunkydory.

I’m a huge animal lover and this stamp set is so cute and I’m sure the other animals will be on their way to a project very soon!
