Easter Gnomes Card

Happy Monday crafty people, how are you all today?  We are doing well, I think getting settled into our new routine and it is feeling a bit more “normal”.  We had our once a week trip to the supermarket yesterday and managed to get what we needed without too much hassle, although I was pretty worried before we went as I didn’t know what to expect.  Thankfully it was very calm and well organised.

Anyway I’m here to share a card I made for the current Fusion Card Challenge which is all about gnomes!  They provide a sketch and a photo for inspiration and I used both (although you don’t need to, you can be inspired by only one if you prefer).

Fusion 200402 Gnomes-001

I had cute gnome stamp set which was a gift with a Christmas craft magazine a couple of years ago so I used stamped and coloured three of these gnomes.  I paper pieced their hats with some pastel patterned papers and added some bunny ears from a Lawn Fawn Easter bunny stamp.  The gnome stamp set included hands so I coloured them and fussy cut them out and then gave them each a little Easter egg to hold onto!  The background patterned papers were from an old Hobbycraft pack of spring themed papers which I’ve hoarded for at least a couple of years.  I added the sentiment from the same Lawn Fawn set and just ran a pink pen around the edge of the strip to make it stand out a bit more.  The middle gnome and the sentiment are raised up with foam pads.

I was really pleased with how it turned out and I have made a few more to send out to friends and family who I won’t see in person over the Easter break but want to connect with.

As my Etsy shop is closed at the moment to reduce the pressure on the mail system I have more time on my hands and I’ve been having a go at making some videos of me crafting.  I’ve shared a few videos on my Ginger Ninja Crafts YouTube channel  including me making this card, I’d love it if you had a look and let me know what you think!

Thanks so much for dropping by, please say hello in the comments before heading off!

Day 5 Cat Lovers Hop

Happy Friday!  But in the mean time I’m back with another cat project for the Cat Lovers Hop.  If you are looking for more information on this fun blog hop check out Janis at Her Peaceful Garden, she has put in so much work to make this such a great week.

2019 CLH Badge1

Today’s card uses the Feline Fine stamp set from Clearly Besotted Stamps .  I used the current sketch from the Fusion Card Challenge for the layout.  I coloured my images using alcohol inks and fussy cut them out.

The patterned papers were in my scrap pile and I used a strip of gray card and stamped the sentiment onto this.

I hope you like this little card, it’s always good to have a few get well cards in my stash so I can send it out when a friend is under the weather.  Thanks so much for visiting the blog.

Rainbow cupcake

Happy Friday crafty people! Today I’, sharing a card I made for the Fusion Card Challenge with this theme….Fusion Feb 24-001

I started by making an inky rainbow with some distress inks on a panel of white paper.  I cut a sentiment and three cupcake cases from this paper. I cut the icing for the cupcakes from white glitter card and I mounted these onto a white rectangle before mounting it on a black rectangle.  I found some star paper in my scrap stash and added that at the sides of the panel.

I hope you like my rainbow cupcakes!

Thanks so much for stopping by the blog and I hope to see you again soon.

Happy Fri-yay!

Happy Fri-yay crafty people!  I’m back again with an entry for the Fusion Card Challenge (see below for sketch and photo).fusionjan24-001

I decided to use both the sketch and the photo and as I’ve been a little bit obsessed with bokeh backgrounds I started by making one using blues (salty ocean, blueprint sketch and peacock feathers alongside brilliant white).  This time I made a background by blending the blues and then I added circles of the blues as well as the white.  I’m not sure that it’s really obvious from this panel but I liked the effect.  I had the other pattern papers in my scrap box on the shelf so I cut some flags to fit the card.  The penguin is a die from Marianne Design which I love.  The snowflake stamp and sentiment are both from a set from Hunkydory For the Love of Stamps that came with a magazine.  It felt very appropriate making this frosty birthday card during our cold snap!

I would also like to enter this card for the Crafty friends Challenge which has the theme animals/birds at the moment and the Simon Says Challenge Anything Goes which is currently “anything goes!”

I hope that you are keeping cosy and that you like my cute penguin!  Thanks so much for visiting my blog and I hope to see you again soon.

Fluttering by to say hi!

Happy Tuesday everyone, how’s your week going?  I’m back with another project painting with pixie powders, this time using pinks and purples.

I heat embossed this butterfly stamp in a few different colours first to see the different effects (using white, silver, clear on black ink and sparkly on black ink).  Then I used pixie powders (aubergine dream, silver dream, purple violet and scarlet mist) to give these butterflies some pretty wings before fussy cutting them out.

The background was made with the same stamp (heat embossed with clear powder) and blending distress oxide (picked raspberry) and distress ink (shaded lilac) and then lightly spritzing it with water.  I followed the sketch from the current fusion card challenge and used a stamp die for the square.

The finishing touches were some nuvo drops in black.  I added some of the background paper along the bottom of the envelope and a butterfly inside the flap of the envelope.

I’m entering this project for two challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge and

 Fusion Card Challenge.

Thanks so much stopping by and I hope you’ll pop back soon.

Christmas Eve Ride

Hi crafty people, I’m back with another crafty challenge, this time the Fusion Card Challenge  with the theme “Christmas Eve ride”.

Fusion Dec 6-001

I went with the photo and not the sketch this time as I had a special request for a custom card which fitted perfectly with this challenge!  The request was for a New York themed card so I combined the NY skyline with Santa flying by on Christmas Eve.

I made a distress ink background with and masked off the moon with a circle die cut from a post it.  The Santa die is from Sue Wilson.  The skyline building die was free with a magazine and the statue of Liberty is from Tonic Studios.  I inked up some white cardstock with Distress oxide in cracked pistachio before cutting out Liberty and I thought it was a pretty good colour match.

I hope you like my Christmas Eve card even if it is a week early (at least I’m early with one thing for Christmas this year!).  How are all your preparations going?

Thanks for stopping by the blog and I hope to see you again soon.

Fusion card challenge – Baby shower

Hi crafty people, I hope you are having a great week.  Thanks so much for stopping by today.  I’d like to share my entry for the Fusion Card Challenge which has the theme of baby shower.  I based my card on the sketch and the theme.  I used some gingham paper to coordinate with some plain cardstock which I embossed with a quilted look embossing folder.  The elephant die is from Tonic Studios and I used black nuvo drops to give the elephant an eye. Here is the blue version…..

….and the pink version……

I hope you like my cute baby cards, I’d love to hear what you think.

They are available in my Etsy shop (Ginger Ninja Crafts on Etsy )

Fusion card challenge citrus … or …. Christmas!

Hi crafty people!  I hope you are having a good week and staying safe in the stormy weather.

Today I’m sharing my entry for the current Fusion card challenge….Fusion Citrus-001

This time I decided to opt for just the sketch and I was itching to use the free gift that came with issue 8 of Love Cardmaking magazine that I bought this morning (I think I have an addiction to craft magazines!)

So here is my card….

I used the cross stitch effect embossing folder, the stamps and the embroidery hoop dies from the set.  I just added a couple of patterned papers and voila!  I used to do lots of cross stitch and this set has made me think about picking it up again.  So many crafts so little time!

I hope you like my card and thanks so much for stopping by the blog.

Fusion card challenge daisies

Happy friday crafty people!  I hope you all had a great week.  Mine has gone so fast I can’t quite believe it but I’m taking it as a sign of enjoying myself and nothing to do with getting older (eek please humour me!!)

Today I have an entry for the Fusion card challenge which has the theme of daisies.  I love this challenge as it gives you a sketch and a theme and you can use one or both.  Check out for all the information.

And here is my finished card.  It was a pretty quick one to make but I’m quite pleased with the result.  I used flower dies from a Tattered Lace set and finished them off with dovecraft liquid pearls to cover the hole in the middle.  The embossed section is another Anna Griffin embossing folder from Cuttlebug and I thought the flowers linked with the theme.  The sentiment came from a Hunkydory set with a recent magazine.

I hope that you like the card and that you are winding down for a fun weekend.  Thanks again for stopping by to my wee corner of the internet.

Fusion card challenge – galaxy challenge

Hi crafty people!  I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend.  I’ve had a weekend full of cake, catching up with friends and a last outing to the Edinburgh Fringe for another year.  Today I’m sharing a card for the Fusion card challenge ( ) which has the theme of “galaxy”.

I used the Starry sky stamp set from For the Love of Stamps by Hunkydory and a star embossing folder.  The inky background was made by blending distress inks before heat embossing the stars in silver.
