Glam Girl

Happy Friday! It’s time for another prompt over at the Daring Cardmakers Challenge and the lovely Ruth is hosting this week’s challenge. The prompt is “Glamorous” and you can make whatever makes you feel like a movie star!

It took me a little while to come up with a plan for this one and then I remembered I had a Hunkydory kit that would be just perfect. The Collage-a-Card includes several shaped cards with embellishments and I used the “Beautiful Dress” set. The different elements were pressed out from the sheet and the little pips trimmed off.

I folded the second mannequin (which comes pre scored) to make a stand for the card.

I glued the bodice onto the mannequin and folded pleats into the skirt before gluing in place. The rose and bow were added with a little glue.

The folded mannequin was glued onto the back of the main outline.

The sentiment was glued onto the skirt and the finishing touch of the pearl trim was glued into place with a hot glue gun on the reverse of the card.

Voila! A glamorous outfit fit for a movie star! I hope you will visit the Daring Cardmakers Challenge to see all the other projects created by the design team and share your glam makes too! I’ll be back this afternoon with another design team post.

Aud Sentiments Challenge 253

Hi crafty people!  I hope you are doing well today.  There is a new challenge over at the Aud Sentiments Challenge and it’s an anything goes one so everyone can join in no matter what you are making!

Blog badge (1)

This time we are sponsored by Oddball Art Co by Lizzy Love and they have very generously offered a $10 gift certificate for the winner of the challenge.

I was lucky to be gifted the Monday Mornings Frazzled Fran needs her coffee digi stamp.  I printed the full page version twice, once on white card stock and once on spotty patterned paper.

I coloured Fran using watercolour pencils (although I didn’t blend the hair at all, just built up 3 different colours in hair strands)  I fussy cut out the mug and glued it onto the white card version and added one of the three sentiments.  I then fussy cut out the whole thing (just as well I love fussy cutting!).

Once I had done this I realised I didn’t have a card base big enough (oops!) so I folded an a 4 card in half and added some patterned papers from my stash.  I added a mat across the card to support the cup handle.

I also used these Arabian Nights Papers which were a free download from Papercrafter Magazine.  How perfect are these for this digi stamp?

I used some patterned papers for different layers and I also fussy cut elements to create a scene and for the sentiment, “make a wish”.  I hope my card brings a smile today and that you make a wish or three today…. you never know !

Bingo and a sentiment – Aud Sentiment Challenge #231

Hi crafty people!

There is a brand new challenge today on the Aud Sentiments Blog and it’s a fun bingo challenge, where you must use three elements from any row to create your project.

Bingo

The challenge is sponsored by the lovely Bugaboo stamps and the design team were lucky to be gifted a digi stamp to make our projects for the blog.

I chose the beautiful Ava the Mermaid and I opted to use the following three elements for my card:

Embossing  –  Digi stamp  –  Faux stitching

ava1

I used a Creative Expressions die to cut the frame from navy card stock.  I then cut a rectangle from white card and inked it up using distress oxides in Cracked pistachio, blueprint sketch and broken china plus distress ink in peacock feathers.  I then embossed the bottom of the inked card with a wave design and spritzed the card lightly with some water.

I then added Ava the Mermaid with her fishy friend and some of the bubbles, all coloured with alcohol inks.  I added some faux stitching around the panel and then the sentiment “Make a splash” which was heat embossed in white.

I can’t wait to see what you all come up with for this bingo challenge, there are lots of inspiring ideas from the design team so why not pop over to check them out now at Aud Sentiments Blog.

Thanks again for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, I hope to see you again soon!

Back to Basics and Beyond – 1 2 3

Happy hump day crafty people!  I hope your week is going really well.  Today over at the Back to Basics and Beyond Challenge there is a new challenge today.  Challenge 25 is to make a card using

1 Topper

2 Colours

3 Gems. pearls or jewels

I hope that you will like my card and will hop over to check out the other design team makes before entering the challenge.

I made a top folding card base measuring 10.5 x 15 cm and then cut some mats and layers using pink mirror, white and the navy card (I’m choosing to include white as a neutral as well as my 2 colours!)

I made a topper using pink vellum and glitter card in navy and pink.  I cut a flag from the pink glitter, a stitched circle from the vellum and a butterfly form the navy.  I layered these up and added my 3 gems.  To finish it off I thought it needed a greeting and I layered up a couple of these hello die cuts to make it a cheery card.

Let me know if you are going to join in with our challenge, I’d love to see what you make.  Thanks so much for stopping by to say hello, I hope to see you again soon.

Back to basics – Bingo challenge

Happy hump day crafty people!  I hope that you are all having a fab day.  I’m so excited to share my project today as it’s my first contribution to a design team!  I was delighted to be invited to join the Back to Basics and Beyond Challenges blog team.  If you haven’t checked them out before, it’s a really fun challenge which runs every two weeks.  The challenge is based on techniques so there might be something that’s new to you, or something you’ve not used for a while.  The design team are super talented and full of great ideas and I’m so happy to join them.

The current challenge is a bingo/tic-tac-toe grid where you are invited to use three elements from one line of the grid in any direction.

PINK

                  PEARLS                   LACE

TAG

                FLOWERS                CHARM

TWINE

                   BLUE              BUTTONS

Can you guess which three I am using in my project?

I have been loving these flower dies which I won from Hunkydory in a Die-cutting Essentials magazine giveaway.  I also pulled out some patterned papers that I got for having a card included in the readers gallery of Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine!

The die I used reminds me of sunflowers so I used yellow and brown and layered some die cut leaves behind the flowers.  The tag I layered with some patterned paper and added some bakers twine to tie on the little heart charm which says “Made with love”.  I layered it all up on a doily and added a mini butterfly and a couple of adhesive gems.

Did you guess which line I went with?

It’s the middle one horizontally (tag – flowers – charm)!  If you are joining the challenge I’d love you to leave me a comment here with which three elements you are using and I can pop over to see your card.

Thanks so much for visiting the blog and I really hope that you will give the challenge some love.  They are such a friendly group of crafters and I’m sure you will find some inspiration.
