Ahoy there!

Helloooooo!  It’s been a while since I was active on here and I’ve missed it.  I need to go and catch up on comments and see what blog posts I’ve missed so apologies if there is a flurry of commenting in the next wee while!  Life has been a bit hectic recently but I’m so pleased to be back on the blog.  I thought I would start back with a couple of challenges:

Tuesday Morning Sketch #517

TMS #517

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge #476

I decided to use some of my (extensive!) patterned papers and these were from a pad I got in Lidl (I think) at least a year ago!  For glitter I added some blue glitter paper but also fussy cut out some starfish and a shell from the paper which had a glittery finish.

This was a nice quick card to make and I thought it was perfect for the summer.  I hope you have all been doing really well?  We have been keeping busy!  Mr Darcy is finally back to his usual healthy self after nearly a month of recovering from his bladder stones.  I’ve had lots of orders to make up and last weekend I had a stall at a local dogs event which was lots of fun.  I was super busy before making lots of doggy designs in the run up and I’ll be adding them to my Etsy shop over the next week or so.

Thank you so much for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog.  I ‘ll be back again very soon.

Monday making

Happy Monday crafty people!  How was your weekend?  We had a really nice weekend.  We went to see Hobbs and Shaw at the cinema on Friday night which was good fun.  On Saturday the weather was really good here and I pottered about in the garden and did some cooking.  Yesterday we went for a road trip to Fife and visited Aberdour Castle and gardens and Dunfermline Abbey and Palace before heading to Anstruther for some prize winning fish and chips!

I’m back with my entry for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge # 475 which has the theme of desert this time:

I decided this was a great excuse to use a paper set I bought a few weeks ago at the Works and I also used the K Craft thanks stamp set which I feel like I use most weeks!

I used a selection of the papers and the succulent wreath which was in the set before adding a sentiment a couple of the flower stickers in the set too.  I really liked the soft colours in the set and the different textures of the pictures including this cork effect print.

I hope you like my desert theme card.  I don’t often make a card in this style without adding some stamping (beyond the sentiment), die cutting or embossing but it was a nice quick make.  Thanks so much for visiting my blog.

Looking for fairies!

Happy hump day crafty people! How’s your week going?  I’ve been having a productive week in the shop and enjoying spending some time in the garden when the sun is shining with the cats.  When I was walking up to the post office earlier in the week I spotted some impressive mushrooms growing.  I always feel like these kind of mushrooms would make fab fairy houses….. is that just me?!  Haha probably but anyway it got me thinking about making some fairy designs and today’s post is the first of the designs I’ve been working on.

The other inspiration was from the prompt for the current Cupcake Inspiration Challenge where we have been asked to use shades of  yellow.

CIC473 remake

I used the garden fairy stamp set from Woodware and coloured the fairy, the toadstools and the butterfly with alcohol ink before fussy cutting them out.  I used some yellow cardstock from my stash as well as the gingham paper.

I thought she was so cheerful with all that yellow, perfect for a sunny day!

I hope that you have been enjoying some summer weather this week too.  Thanks so much for stopping by to visit the blog, I hope to see you again soon.

Have a mermazing day!

Hi crafty people!  How are you all doing?  I feel like I’ve been neglecting this blog recently but I’ve got a few posts planned for the next couple of weeks so I will get back into the swing of things I’m sure.

I’m back today with a quick card to share for the current cupcake inspirations challenge  which is to make a mermaid themed card.  I used a little mermaid die which I’ve had for ages and I can’t remember where it was from!  The papers are from a hobbycraft 6×6 pad called Under the Sea, it’s a lovely selection including ombre glitters.  The “bubbles” are some flat backed gems which were a bargain from the Works.

I hope that you like my card.  Thank you so much for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts Blog and I hope to see you again very soon.

Owl the best!

Happy Monday crafty people!  I hope your week has got off to a great start, we are off for a day out as it’s a holiday weekend here.

Today’s blogpost was inspired by the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge 469 (shaped card) and was the perfect excuse to use the Sizzix fold-along owl shaped card.  It’s an old die but it’s a favourite of mine.  I decided to make a snowy owl (well we did have hailstones on Friday afternoon, the snow could be here any day, got to love Scottish spring weather!)

This card was making me think of Hedwig from Harry Potter!

Thanks so much for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, I hope you will pop back soon!

You are amazing!

Hi crafty people, I hope you are all well and enjoying some sunny weather.  I think the forecast here is for rain but so far so good!  Today I’m sharing a card for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge which asks us to make a card with an inspirational quote.

I used the Beautiful Butterflies die set from Hunkydory moonstone and the Words of Wisdom stampset, also from Hunkydory.

I cut a circle of white card and made a bocca background with inks and stamped my chosen sentiment on the card with black ink.  I added a black circle behind it the bocca circle.  The butterflies outline was cut from black card and the shape behind was using up some alcohol inked yupo paper that was made for another project.

I hope you like my card and that you are remembering how amazing, strong, brave and wonderful you are today.  Thank you so much for stopping by to visit my blog today.

Back in the craft room!

Happy Monday crafty people!  How was your weekend?  We had a busy and productive weekend building out greenhouse, it was a long job but we are so happy with it and I can’t wait to fill it up with plants.  Here are a few pictures of the process and end result just in case you fancy a sneak peak!

I am happy to be back in my cosy craft room making things from paper again!  Today I have a card which I made to enter the MFT Sketch Challenge (see the sketch below) and the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge which asks us to use lilac, sky blue and white.

My starting point was that I wanted to use up some of my extensive washi tape collection!  I started by using some scrap card and covering it with a few selections of washi tape.  I forgot to take a picture of the colours I used for the card before I cut it up but here are the others to give you an idea of what I did!

Then I simply cut out triangle shapes and arranged as per the sketch.  I added a few pearls in lilac and pale blue and a Happy Birthday stamp from a MFT set.

I hope that you like this simple card.  I think I will have a go with some other shapes and patterns too as it was such a nice way of using those washi tapes, I’m so good at buying them and they are not appreciated if they sit in a box on my shelf!

Thanks so much for visiting Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, I hope you will pop back soon!

Add a button!

Happy Friday crafty people!  How’s your week been?  Have you got fun weekend plans?

We are hoping to start on some of our garden plans tomorrow.  We bought some paving slabs for a patio and a flat pack greenhouse and we need to clear the areas for these.  We also want to get a third veg box and widen our flower beds to have some more planting space and a bit more of a shape to the garden.  We moved into our house nearly 3 years ago and we have a good sized garden but as a new build it was just a blank canvas and we’ve gradually been adding some shape but we now have a grand plan!  It’s going to be quite a bit of work but we are up for a challenge!  On Sunday we are going for lunch at the golf club with my Mum and I’m very excited to be going to the bookshop to spend my Christmas book voucher!

However I’m really here to share a crafty make!  Today I’ve got a card that I made for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge which is to add a button (how cute are these cupcakes!).

I used to love rummaging through my mum’s button box as a kid.  I seem to remember it was an old sellotape tin which was round and blue.  My button stash is a drawer in some ikea wooden drawers and I still enjoy a rummage!  I picked out three yellow buttons that I thought could be the centre of some pretty flowers.  The flowers are die cut from the Hunkydory Moonstone Fabulous Flowers set and the green flourishes are from a spellbinders die.  I added a little touch of gingham and a sentiment (clearly besotted stamp) and it’s done.

Thanks for stopping by the blog today, I hope whatever your weekend plans are that they get off to a good start.

Be my valentine!

Hi crafty people!  Hope you are having a good Saturday.  We had the six monthly check up visits for all three cats this morning so it was all hands on deck to get them rounded up and in their carriers.  It’s only about 10 minutes in the car but that feels like a very long time when one is moaning consistently and another complains loudly at every roundabout!  We are all home again now, they are all vaccinated and in good health, just need to plan for a bit of dental work for two of them in the next couple of months. Now we can chill out and enjoy some rugby on the TV this afternoon and hopefully a bit of cross stitching too.

Today I’m sharing a card I made to fit in with a couple of challenges, the Freshly Made Sketches Challenge and the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge

I started by cutting out a selection of hearts from red and pink card and patterned papers using various punches and cutting dies.  I then arranged them on the card blank and when I was pleased with how they looked I stuck them down.  I added some nuvo drops in red and cream around the hearts and the sentiment (from Clearly Besotted) embossed in white.

I hope you like my card and as always thanks so much for visiting the blog!

Bokeh heart

Hello crafty people!  How are you doing today?  I’m back with another card I made using the bokeh background from yesterday.  I’d like to enter this card into a couple of challenges:

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge – Heart

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge – Pink & White

I used the Tonic Studios die to cut a heart from the bokeh background paper as well as a couple of mini hearts I had left over from yesterday’s card too.  I layered a white square of embossed card stock on a pink square and then arranged the hearts in the frame.  I used a stamp from Crafter’s Companion to add a simple sentiment.  I mounted the sentiment on the same pink card and raised it with some 3d pads to add some dimension.

I hope that you like my sweet and simple Valentine’s day card.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.
