Happy Friday everyone, I hope you are all doing well and have had a good week. It’s time for a new challenge at the Daring Cardmaker Blog and this week Shabneez is asking you to make your background the star of your creation. Get out those paints, sprays, pastes or even inks and watercolours to wow us with your masterpieces!
I’ve been loving playing with pixie powders recently so I pulled out Candy Pink, Scarlet Mist, Mango Blaze and Spearmint. I picked a recently purchased stamp, Rosie Posey by Julie Hickey Designs and the lower case alphbet die set also from Julie Hickey.
I started to sprinkle my pixie powders around some plain white card with a view to stamp some roses on leaves onto the background. I sprayed with water and then used a waterbrush to spread the colours and make sure all of the white is covered. Once it was completely dry I stamped roses over the yellow areas and some of the red and the leaves over the green areas. Once the ink had totally dried I cut the word birthday out of the background and set the letters aside. I cut five more sets out of the letters (my black card is very thin!) and glued them together. Once I glued the background to the card, I added the black letters to the spaces and then off set the colourful letters slightly to create a shadow effect.
The finishing touch was to add a left over strip of the background inside the card.
I hope you will check out the beautiful creations from my talented design team colleagues, they always make such fabulous cards. I look forward to seeing your makes for this fun challenge.
Thanks for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts Blog, I hope to see you again soon!
