Happy Friday crafty people! I hope you’re having a great week. Today over at Daring Cardmakers we have a new challenge celebrating International Book day today. Svenja is hosting us this week and she challeges us to create a card celebrating books and their heroes. This challenge is right up my street because I love reading, so I took inspiration from my current read, Hamnet by Maggie O@Farrell. I recently attended a virtual book event with Maggie O@Farrell as the paperback of Hamnet was being released and included in the ticket I received a signed copy of the book. The book is a fictional story inspired by the fact that Shakespeare’s son, Hamnet died aged 11, about 4 years prior to his father writing Hamlet (which apparently was interchangeable with Hamnet). I’m really enjoying to so far!
I recently found out that Vera Lane Studio has an Etsy shop selling digital stamps and when I was browsing I was so happy to find this fab Shakespeare set of 8 digi stamps and I used the image of Shakespeare plus one of the quotes.
I took some paper from my pile I’m trying to use up! I originally used bubble wrap and blue pixie powders to make a spotty pattern. I cut a panel, inked around the edges and used a star stencil to make some stars in yellow and blue. I added some doodling to the stars with a gold gel pen and I did a scribbly edge with black pen. Then I added Shakespeare and the quote.
I can’t wait to see which books and characters are used for inspiration, maybe I will end up with some new books to add to my list!
