Happy Friday crafty people! Can you believe that another week has whizzed past and it’s time for the Daring Cardmakers challenge again? This time Nat has tasked us with making a Peek-a-boo card. She would like us to make a card that features an opening element, surprise element, or simply an aperture.

I decided to have a go at the Peek-a-boo card that I saw Jennifer McGuire making a while ago. I thought it would be easiest to share my process in a video so you can watch and craft along if you would like to create something similar!
To make the base I cut and scored three pieces of Kraft card as follows:
- 4.25 x 8.25 inches – scored at 2.75 inches (front piece)
- 4.25 x 8.5 inches – scored at 4.25 inches (inside piece)
- 4.25 x 5.75 inches – scored at 5.5 inches (back piece)
I added some patterned paper to the front and inside although you don’t need to. The measurements I used were:
- 4 x 4 inches (two pieces to go on the inside piece)
- 4 x 5.25 inches (to go on the card front)
I used an oval die to cut the aperture on the front of the card and then on both sides of the inside piece. I’ve shared how to put the card together in the video. This is how it looks from above once it’s put together to create the sliding mechanism.

This is how I decorated the front of the card:

Once open this is how it looks:

Here is a video to watch the card making in action!
I hope you will share your own peek a boo card, remember it can be any card with an opening, a surprise element, or simply an aperture!
Thank you for visiting the Ginger Ninja Crafts blog, I hope to see you again soon!
