Happy Sunday crafty people! I’m back with another stitch along (SAL) post.  I was away on holiday for the last one so it’s been 6 weeks since I shared an update.  This SAL is organised by the lovely Avis.  The idea is to finish off a UFO (or Unfinished Object!) and let me tell you I have lots of those!  If you fancy joining in then contact Avis and she will give you all the information you need.

Today we visited Stirling Castle and I thought I would share a few pictures from the tapestry exhibit the work behind the beautiful unicorn tapestries on display in the castle.

  1. Slow progress is better than no progress, Love Stirling though not been for 13 or 14 years and then we didn’t get to visit the castle as we were up visiting Mum who fell and broke her hip and was taken in to Stirling hospital. xxx

  3. Welcome home and love the progress you made. Thank you for sharing Stirling Castle too. I had to look it up on google as I had no real idea where it was. My daughter and husband visited Scotland this past August ( the one getting the Barbara Lavalle cross stitch gift) They loved it there and shared so many amazing pictures with me. In fact I have a distant cousin who lives in Scotland = I would love to go some day! Textile exhibit – love it!

  9. Hi Jenny, lovely new stitches added to your piece. I would love to visit a textile museum. See the fenced unicorn…I had a framed poster of that in my apt./house for many years. Thought about getting the needlepoint kit to make it but figured I wouldn’t live long enough to finish it!

    1. Wow, that would be a beautiful picture to have, but alot of stitches to make the tapestry! It was really interesting seeing the process they used to make the tapestries and so nice to see them in the castle. They have guides dressed in period costume in the room and they were challenging some of the kids to find all the different animals around the tapestries. x

      1. Interesting. The fenced unicorn has samples of all the flowers known to them at the time and folks enjoy finding them all.

  11. You made more progress than I did! But not stitching because you’ve been on holiday is my favorite reason for not stitching much. The exhibit on the tapestries at Stirling Castle looks lovely too!
