Happy Sunday crafty people! I’m back with another stitch along (SAL) post. I was away on holiday for the last one so it’s been 6 weeks since I shared an update. This SAL is organised by the lovely Avis. The idea is to finish off a UFO (or Unfinished Object!) and let me tell you I have lots of those! If you fancy joining in then contact Avis and she will give you all the information you need.
So last time I checked in I was here:
I’ve not done very much but I do have a little progress ….
Today we visited Stirling Castle and I thought I would share a few pictures from the tapestry exhibit the work behind the beautiful unicorn tapestries on display in the castle.
I’m looking forward to catching up with all the other blogs in this SAL group, please give them a visit too, I’ve linked them here so you can easily find them.

Slow progress is better than no progress, Love Stirling though not been for 13 or 14 years and then we didn’t get to visit the castle as we were up visiting Mum who fell and broke her hip and was taken in to Stirling hospital. xxx

Welcome home and love the progress you made. Thank you for sharing Stirling Castle too. I had to look it up on google as I had no real idea where it was. My daughter and husband visited Scotland this past August ( the one getting the Barbara Lavalle cross stitch gift) They loved it there and shared so many amazing pictures with me. In fact I have a distant cousin who lives in Scotland = I would love to go some day! Textile exhibit – love it!

But you have progress, that is what counts! Seeing all those threads behind the scenes gives one an idea how huge those tapestries really are!

Thanks Tinz, I hadn’t been to the castle in 30 plus years but it was really worth a visit. x

Hi Jenny, lovely new stitches added to your piece. I would love to visit a textile museum. See the fenced unicorn…I had a framed poster of that in my apt./house for many years. Thought about getting the needlepoint kit to make it but figured I wouldn’t live long enough to finish it!

Wow, that would be a beautiful picture to have, but alot of stitches to make the tapestry! It was really interesting seeing the process they used to make the tapestries and so nice to see them in the castle. They have guides dressed in period costume in the room and they were challenging some of the kids to find all the different animals around the tapestries. x

Interesting. The fenced unicorn has samples of all the flowers known to them at the time and folks enjoy finding them all.

Hi Jenny, this is such a sweet design. I think it might be time for me to actually open my cross stitch box again. I have a few things ( well….maybe more than a few) that I should get back too. Thanks for the inspiration xx

Aw that’s great, I hope you find some time to stitch. Joining the stitch along has really motivated me this year as I’ve wanted to have some progress to share! x

You made more progress than I did! But not stitching because you’ve been on holiday is my favorite reason for not stitching much. The exhibit on the tapestries at Stirling Castle looks lovely too!

Aw hehe it is a fab reason. Somehow the darker nights and colder weather have got me in the mood to stitch in the evenings so I’m getting a bit more done this time round. x
