Freshly Made Sketches 345

Happy Friday crafty people!  I hope you have all been having a great week and managed to fit in some crafting.  I’m sharing a card I made for the current Freshly Made Sketches challenge (#FMS345).

FMS Final 345-001

I decided to make a cactus theme card and used the Simply Succulents stamp set from Clearly Besotted and some cactus papers that I picked up at the range.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is from a My Favourite Things set. I finished off with a couple of sequence in the bottom corner.  I’m really trying to embrace the white spaces but I felt like it needed a little something!

I hope that you like my card and I’d love it if you left me a comment to say hello!  Have a great weekend when it comes.

Another day, another challenge!

Happy Monday crafty people!  Today I’m sharing a card I made for the MFT Sketch Challenge (http://www.cardchallenges.com/2018/07/wednesday-sketch-challenge-sketch-392.html).

I used some background paper that I had created with a stencil and some pixie powders a while ago and the stamps are from the MFT adorable elephants set.  I hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great week

Opposites ATCs

Hey crafty people, I thought today I would share some ATCs that I made for a swap last month as my partner has received them now!  This swap was through a facebook group of lovely people and the theme was to make 5 double sided ATCs that had opposites on each side.  So here’s what I came up with….

The “sweet” side background was created with distress inks and heat embossed sweety stamps.  I used pixie powders to create the background for the “sour” side and I added glossy accents to the lemons.

The hot background is a napkin which stuck to the card with modge podge and again I used pixie powders on the “cold” background (I’m addicted to those powders!)

I used a stencil for the “light” background with some spiced marmalade distress oxide ink.  The “dark” side was so easy peasy but I love all those googly eyes staring out!

This was a bit of a cheat really, just die cuts and patterned paper but I quite liked the effect.

More distress oxides for these backgrounds and a some ranger silver spray for the stars.

What do you think?  Do you do any crafty swaps?  I love seeing how people interpret the themes differently and use techniques that I haven’t tried or thought of.  I’d love to hear what you think in the comments.

Let in snow….. in July?!

Happy Friday crafty people! This week on the Male Room challenge the theme is “fish or fishing” (https://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/) and initially I thought I wouldn’t participate as I didn’t have anything relevant in my stash.  However I was having a look through my Christmas dies and came across this cute penguin so I’m in!

The die is from Tattered Lace, I think was a gift with a magazine and I had never used it.  I used a mixture of paper piecing and colouring on the penguin, fish and bucket.  The background is embossed and I cut and layered 4 rings to give the card some dimension.  I hope you like it.

You’re one cool cat!

Hey crafty people, hope you are having a great day.  It’s another beautiful sunny day here in Scotland and I’ve been busy working on some orders for my Etsy shop and a custom order through facebook.  Today I’m sharing my entry for the Freshly Made Sketches card challenge #FMS344 (http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/ ).  The sketch for this week’s challenge is….FMS Final 344-001

My other inspiration for today’s card is one of my cats, Pepper.  Pepper is the oldest of our three cats and I’m sure the other two will make an appearance on here soon!

When I saw the Fluffy Furball stamp set by Clearly Besotted it reminded me of Pepper so much so I had to buy it!  I created the blue background using pixie powders (addiction still going strong!!).

I hope you like my card and I can’t wait to see all the other entries to the challenge.  It’s amazing seeing all the different interpretations from one sketch.  Have a great day.

100 Things Challenge

Crafting with what I have – a new challenge!

Happy hump day crafty people!  Today I thought I would share a challenge I started yesterday.  As I was sitting in my craft room surrounded by so many crafty goodies I came across Dances with Pitbulls on youtube and her 100 things challenge (if you look for #dwpc100thingschallenge you will find lots of inspiring videos).  The idea is that you have to make 100 “things” before you buy more crafty goodies (apart from glue).  The “things” are not necessarily individual items, they might be a collection of similar items or one larger project.  I thought this would be perfect to give me some focus to use up some of my stash, particularly some of paper scraps, die cuts and sparkly bits and pieces.

So today I am sharing the first 4 “things” and as you will see I am building up a good supply of items for crafty swaps and happy mail.

The first thing I made was this ATC using a new die set which I couldn’t wait to play with.  I think it’s perfect for a summer swap.

20180704_112952

Then I used some scraps of summer paper and a die from a magazine set to make these fun sun glass postage stamps.  I might use them on mini cards or in a pocket letter.

20180704_112945

Then I got a bit carried away with these mini envelopes embellishments with some card scraps, stamped watermelon and a few gems which were gifted to me in a crafty swap.  Again I will probably use some in a pocket letter and pop some on mini cards to go in with swaps and happy mail.

Then in the heatwave of July I made some Christmas versions with these cute mini ginger bread men! Hehe you’ve got to start somewhere with Christmas crafts!

So I’m 4 down and 96 to go, I’ll share a few at a time on here.  If you are doing the challenge I’d love to see what you are making too (I’m sure I will need ideas soon!).  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Hope your birthday doesn’t suck!

Hi crafty people, I hope you are all having a great Tuesday.  Today I’m back with another card challenge, this time The Male Room Challenge #88 (https://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2018/06/challenge-88-inspired-by-film-title.html) .  The challenge is to create a masculine card which is inspired by a film title.  I decided to go with Dracula as I have some very cute tattered lace dies which I could use!  First I decided to create stepper card using two card bases, one white and one blue.  First I scored the blue card at 5cm from the long edge of one side.

Then I put glue on the other side of the blue card and stuck it to the front of the white card to create the stepper.

20180702_150018

I used some halloween dies from Tattered lace to cut the Dracula, the bat and the spooky tree.  I used black card stock to create the ground and adhered the tree (with a silver moon in the background) and the bat.  I used a white gel pen to give the bat eyes.  I paper pieced Dracula using white, red and black cardstock and coloured in Dracula’s hands and face with a spectrum noir pen.  To finish the card off I printed the cheesy sentiment!

Tennis anyone?

Hey crafty people!  It’s a bit cooler today and a much more comfortable temperature to get busy in my craft room.  Today I’d like to share a card I made for this week’s Freshly Made Sketches challenge (http://freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/ ).

FMS343

As it’s the first day of Wimbledon I was inspired to use a tennis theme and I used a set of stamps from a recent issue of Creative Stamping Magazine (issue 56).  First of all I used a black pen and ruler to create a net effect for the bottom panel and I adhered this to a green card base.

20180702_122335

I cut a panel of card from white card stock and using the tennis ball I stamped a background.  Then I stamped the sentiment “Happy birthday champ” onto the panel and glued it onto the card base.  I then stamped two tennis rackets and coloured them using my First Edition Graphic Markers before fussy cutting them out.  I glued one onto the white panel and used sticky pads to raise up the other and give the card some dimension.

I hope everyone is enjoying some summer weather and that you like my card.  Happy crafting folks
