Cardmaking

The Male Room Challenge #90

Hi there crafty people, happy Monday!  I hope you all had a fab weekend.  Today I’m sharing my card for the current Male Room Challenge ( https://themaleroomchallengeblog.blogspot.com/ ) which is to include an unexpected item.

I struggled at first to think of what I could include and then got some inspiration from my favourite drink…. diet pepsi!  So I cut into a can and washed it out before die cutting a square and then embossing it.  I have to admit it was very sharp but once I had die cut the square it was much easier to handle and I really like the embossed effect.  I used some of the super sticky red tape to fix it to the card and mat and layered it with some blue and black cardstock.

I used dies from two sets to make the embellishments for the card, the sentiment (My Hero) from the Xcut Mr Mister text set and the tools from Marianne Design Creatables.

I used paper piecing with the tools and sentiment and arranged them onto the card, using foam pads to raise up the sentiment.

I hope that you like my finished card, I’m looking forward to seeing all the other unusual items used in the challenge!

  3. This is brilliant – I think the use of an old drink can die cut and embossed is so clever. Love the design! Thanks so much for playing along with our Unexpected Item challenge at The Male Room. Deborah, DT.
