Happy Wednesday! Hope you are having a fabulous week and thanks so much for stopping by to check out my blog. Today I’m sharing a stepper card I made using the free gifts with issue 161 of Papercraft Essentials magazine. I love a crafty magazine for all the ideas and inspiration although I must admit I’m often sucked in by the freebies on offer! This magazine did not disappoint with the set of stamps, coordinating dies and an embossing folder from Apple Blossom. I also used some yellow checked paper from a pack that the magazine sent me as a gift when a card I made was included in the Your Cards pages!
To make the card base I used the following template which I think I found on pinterest some time ago and I scribbled it down in my notebook so please excuse the picture!
I used brown craft card for the card base and cut some panels from the decorative paper for the side and bottom panels.
I stamped the beer bottles and beer glasses with Memento Tuxedo black ink. For the bottles I coloured with my First Edition Craft Twin Markers (49, 53,54 and 37 for the label) and a gold gel pen for the bottle cap. I fussy cut these out and glued them to the side panels. The beer mugs were cut out with the corresponding die and coloured with the pens (42, 39 and 37). I added a little highlight with a white gel pen. The cream panel in the centre was made by embossing some cream cardstock and then running some vintage photo distress ink lightly with a blending tool across the raised areas.
The finishing touch was to add the Happy Birthday sentiment from the stamp set and a couple of orange enamel dots from my stash.
I hope that you like my card, I’d love to hear any feedback you have. Happy crafting everyone.

Unlike you, I often find mags repetitive and more to do with advertising than instruction. Having said that I always look what the freebies are and if I think they are worth the cost I buy the gift and then consider the mag as the freebie lol . Recently there have been some excellent gifts. I didn’t buy this one though as I do not think I would use it much. The card you have made is great though and reminds me that I really ought to go back to making more shaped cards as it seems ages since I have done anything adventurous.
