Fusion card challenge – the harbour

Today I’m sharing a card I made for the Fusion Card Challenge over at http://fusioncardchallenge.blogspot.co.uk/ .  The challenge gives you a sketch and a theme and you can use one, or the other or both.  This challenge sketch is …..Fusion May 10 The Harbour-001

I opted to try both and went with a nautical theme and the card sketch…..

First I used a selection of distress inks and distress oxide inks in blue, greens and yellow and “smooshed” them using a sheet of acetate out of some crafty packaging.  Once I was happy with the effect I decided it needed a border to make it stand out so I matted it on some navy card stock.  I left a wider border at the right hand side which I heat embossed with a compass stamp.

Then I stamped and coloured the sailor using alcohol pens and fussy cut him out.  The port hole was also a stamp which I again heat embossed with silver and fussy cut it out.  The sailor is stuck on using some 3d pads to give it a little dimension and the card is finished off with a stampmed sentiment saying “happy birthday mate”!  The stamps were all part of a set which came free with a Creative Stamping Magazine months ago.  I really like the sailor with his tattoo and I had to give him a ginger beard to keep him in the Ginger Ninja theme!

I really enjoyed the challenge and will definately be back to see what the next challenge will be.  It was a good way of making me look at my crafty stash and see what I had that could be used for the theme and it was a great excuse to get this sailor out to play!  I hope you like my card and thanks so much for stopping by.

Crafty hugs

Jenny
